They cover a variety of different moves and skills, such as circles, slant math, advanced more, routine techniques and more!

MIRA CLOUDHOOK

Crescent Moon Instructor

Hello! I'm Mac, and I teach our lovely Crescent Moons preparing them for the comp team alongside Storm! We are like the momma and papa bear to them.  Although I do teach the odd routine I am more into our skills-based lessons than creating routines, I leave that to Storm.  No matter what you are struggling with and how long it takes, I will go at your pace while also pushing you to be the best you can be. I believe everyone deserves to develop and learn at whatever pace you need however I will push you! I've been an instructor for many, many years now and also have IRL teaching experience, so trust me when I say whatever you are struggling with I can help.  I can be creative when it comes to teaching methods.

If you come along to any of my lessons you will soon realise I love to yap ALOT. I have been dubbed the club yapper. There is never a dull moment in any of my lessons at all.

LEVEL 3

Level 3 is the first level of our Crescent Moon rank. This level covers slants, slant based moves, and the importance of slant maths. We try to teach this in a creative way, utilising dressage games to make the lessons more enjoyable. Slant math is very important for later levels of dressage so we teach is as early as possible. Level 3 is taken once all content has been covered.

- Introduction to slant math

- Slant moves

- Slant move combos

LEVEL 4

Level 4 starts to cover some more difficult intermediate moves which were not covered within previous levels.

LEVEL 5

Level 5 begins to cover circles, an important level for the next few levels! Level 5 test is taken once all content has been covered.

- Circle points

- Circle moves

LEVEL 6

Level 6 introduces more complex circles around the arena, not only 'x'. This level covers creative circle forming along with additional circle moves. Pinwheels are introduced and covered in detail, however more complex pinwheels are not covered within this level and are instead covered later. Pinwheels are an important part of many routines so it is important they are covered in detail. Level 6 test is taken once all content has been covered.

- Forming circles creatively

- Introduction to pinwheels

LEVEL 7

Level 7 begins to cover more advanced pinwheels and moves, such as a pinwheel rotary. Techniques for better pinwheels, such as games to learn alignment, are learnt here.

LEVEL 8

Level 8 starts to mainly prepare our members to become part of the competition team, teaching them important techniques that may be used within routines, such as ignoring and jumping. Small sections of previous routines and difficult move combinations are taught too. Level 8 test is taken once all content has been covered.

- Static and moving jumps

- Use of ignoring and global store within routines

- Advanced move combinations

- Learning sections of past routines (group and duets)

LEVEL 9

Level 9 is the most exciting level of Crescent Moon! They are able to put all their skills and knowledge to use to participate within a routine, they are able to pick the theme for their routine and assist their instructor with providing any creative ideas. However, our instructors are mainly in charge of the routine's creation. Elements they have learned in previous levels is put to use within the routine. These routines are also frequently used in competitions hosted by other clubs, teams or organisations. They will also participate in any non region ranking competitions within SSD. Individual and group feedback is given to give that competition feel when the routine is not used within a competition. Level 9 test is taken at any time after the level 8 test, this is a fundamental skills test to ensure they are ready to rank up to our comp team!
