DRESSAGE RANKING & LEVEL SYSTEM

StarStable_2025-03-28_20-11-30.png

Moon Protectors is an academy style dressage club, meaning we teach all our members from the ground up, no matter their previous experience or current skill level. This also means we have a level system which consists of 3 main ranks, known as New Moon, Crescent Moon and Full Moon. We have an additional rank which comes after Full Moon, called Eclipse, which is the rank given to our main competition team. Though Full Moons are also part of this competition team, they are still learning some essential skills and act as a reserve or extra within routines.

Every rank has a series of levels, each which requires a test to progress onto the next. We encourage members to take one test per week to keep up with their progress, any missed content can be covered with the next rotation or through a private lesson. You can progress at your own pace, however our instructors try to encourage all our members to take their tests as soon as they have covered all content. Once all levels have been completed within the rank, these skills are used within a routine, the theme is chosen by the members themselves and can suggest what is used in the routine. This gives all our members the change to participate in routines and our instructors the ability to create their own routines too.

Please see below for some information on each rank and to visit the page discussing dressage levels.

NEW MOON

New Moon is our trial rank given to all new members who join MP. This is where you learn basic SSO dressage foundations, beginner moves and touch on some intermediate moves and skills. Our trial period is 4 weeks long.

CRESCENT MOON

Crescent Moon is an intermediate to advanced rank. This is where our members learn essential skills to prepare them for our competition team.

FULL MOON

Full Moon is our advanced to elite rank. This is where our members learn competitive routines and are given the chance to compete. They typically act as reserves or extras until they are up to speed with our main comp team, Eclipse.
