SPREADING AWARENESS

We are lucky to have a platform where we can speak up about certain issues and raise awareness for them. This is why monthly or bimonthly we try to choose an issue and spread awareness about it. We try to also raise money for certain charities, where we do fundraisers on our instagram posts and promote our chosen charities' donation page. Information about our current fundraiser can be found on our socials.

PINK FOR A CAUSE

Our chosen charity for July was BCRF, here is some information about them! The Breast Cancer Research Foundation is an independent, not-for-profit organization which has raised $569.4 million to support clinical and translational research on breast cancer at medical institutions in the United States and abroad. BCRF currently funds over 255 researchers in 14 countries. If you wish to look more into BCRF, there is a link located below (or if you wish to donate!)

Breast cancer is something than can affect both men and women, however is more frequently seen within women.  Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers within women and the second leading cause of cancer related deaths. With all of our help, either donating or raising awareness, we can help reduce these numbers! Every little donation helps!! Raising awareness can encourage more women (men too!) to check their breasts for any abnormalities which could save someone's life and discover it early <3

SUICIDE AWARENESS

Suicide Prevention Awareness month is throughout September. It is time to raise awareness of this incredibly important topic, spreading hope and vital imformation to people affected by suicide. This is a time to remember those who have lost their lives due to suicide and recognise the millions of people who have experienced suicidal thoughts, it is also to recognise the families, friends, individuals and communities that have been impacted by suicide. In 2022 there was 5,642 registered deaths by suicide in England and Wales, meaning an average of 15 suicides per day.

Our chosen charity is Samaritans, this is a registered charity dedicated to helping those in need, giving emotional support to those in emotional stress, struggling to cope or at risk of suicide; they are a charity based in the UK and Republic of Ireland. They also provide support for those working in health and social care, military and armed forces, prisons as well as providing help within schools and workplaces for many different organisations. You can contact them if you are having a tough time, they are they to listen and not tell you what to do, you do not have to face things alone.
